A historic building in Washington Court House, Ohio has once again opened its doors to another local business. Known for its large marquee and terracotta roof, this South Fayette Street building is now home to one of the most prominent realty and auctioneers in the area.
On the same day Charles Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis for the last time, the Fayette Theatre saw its first opening night on Monday, April 30th, 1928. With performances from local and traveling entertainers, the first “talkie” picture show graced the South Fayette Street silver screen on Sunday, June 16th, 1929.
Over the years, the Fayette Theatre would become a part of the Chakeres Theater enterprise, helping the oldest independent motion picture exhibitor in Ohio and Kentucky grow into the franchise it has become today.
